I rented the large Toro stump grinder and the big 12 inch, diesel, 75 hp, Vermeer BC-1000 chipper.
These guys provide fantastic customer service. The guys in the yard are cheerful and extremely efficient, immediately hooking up your equipment or trailer, and unhitching it for you as soon as you drive up to drop it off. They call you back when you call! I had the occasion to call a couple times one time leaving a message and another when I did not. Both times I had them call me back to ask how they could help me. This tells me they care about their customers and have a great work ethic. When I asked about the teeth for the stump grinder I was given three extra teeth I could use if I needed to replace one, which I did.
The equipment: The stump grinder was great. I was able to grind seven large >24 inch ponderosa stumps in the 12 hours I was using it. I did have it stall on me after it got heated. If I just let it rest while I was spreading out the chips, everything worked great. Pointer on technique: grind the stump from the side rather than from the top. It grinds much better that way.
The large Vermeer BC-1000 chipper was fantastic. In eight hours I chipped a huge pile of cutoffs from having used a portable sawmill five or six times last summer. I think I ended up with over 30 yards of chips. It smoked a couple times, which concerned us, but after a call we were reassured that a piece of wood likely got caught and friction caused the smoke until it freed up. No problem.
Then I rented the BC-1000 chipper again, and wow! In just under 8 hours of use just me and a friend I hired for the day produced a gigantic pile of chips 8 feet high and 30 feet in diameter (pictured). My calculations are that we chipped about 65 yards of chips - an amazing accomplishment and bang for the buck in my estimation!

I hadn't realized how heavy the Sod cutter was and definitely wasn't something the wife and I could handle. However a trailer was on hand and a hitch no extra charge! I was shown how to use the sod cutter and everything went smooth. They also offered a veteran discount that is greatly appreciated!

Highly recommend renting from these guys! I was shopping around for a power rake and aerater for a large job, speaking with multiple businesses and people. These guys met the price of the lowest price a competitor was offering. The equipment I rented was in great shape, and ran very well. I will be coming to them again when I need to rent any equipment.
